Cee Kay Supply, a St. Louis-based company, opened for business on November 3, 1948 as a distributor for National Cylinder Gas Company, a manufacturer of gases and welding equipment. Cee Kay was founded by Ralph Chase and Ralph Knight. They derived the name of Cee Kay by using the “C” from Chase and the “K” from Knight. On August 22, 1951, Chase and Knight sold the assets of the company to Homer Fudge. At that time, Paul Dunn was a Service Technician with National Cylinder Gas Company and Cee Kay Supply was one of his customers. In April of 1955, Paul Dunn became the Sales Manager for Cee Kay Supply.
On December 6, 1955, Dunn purchased all of the stock of Cee Kay Supply from Homer Fudge. When Dunn purchased the company, there were three employees: Paul Dunn, one truck driver and one bookkeeper. Also at that time, Cee Kay operated with one truck and utilized a building with space between 3,000-5,000 square feet. The growth of the company exceeded the space available. In 1957, Cee Kay moved to new facilities on Folsom Avenue. Cee Kay experienced continued growth for the next 24 years. Sales grew from $100,000 per year and three employees to $2.6 million and 18 employees. Paul Dunn retired in March of 1979, and his son, Tom Dunn, took over as President of the company. Expansion plans for a new 20,000 square foot office/warehouse began and in 1985 Cee Kay moved into their new facility across the street. For the next 16 years, Cee Kay expanded by adding three more branch locations to the west of St. Louis and two locations in Illinois, to better serve their customers.
In November of 1997, Cee Kay had an opportunity to move its headquarters two miles west to a 120,000 square foot building on six acres. The new headquarters on Manchester Road, between I-44 & Highway 40, enables Cee Kay to better serve customers by having everything under one roof. Cee Kay Supply currently services within a 100-mile radius of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

In 1916, three brothers, Leopold, Victor and Carl Laciny, emigrated from Eastern Europe to the United States in search of the American dream. Together, they settled in St. Louis, MO and invested $23.00 each to establish a custom metal fabrication business they could call their own. Four generations later, the dreams and aspirations of these three men continue to flourish as Laciny Bros., Inc. surpasses it’s 100th year in business.
As we advertised at our inception in 1916, Laciny Bros., Inc. specializes in custom metal work that demands creativity, precision and attention to detail. Through decades of experimentation and innovation, we are the proud beneficiaries of the knowledge and experience that can only be accumulated through years of hard work. Today, we pride ourselves on our ability to handle any job, large or small.
Although much has changed in the 100 years since our inception, Laciny Bros. has maintained a dedication to customer service and quality craftsmanship. Now proudly owned by a fourth generation of the Laciny family, we will continue to build on the reputation and principles that have kept Laciny Bros. in business for over a century.

Online Metals. Who are we, and what do we do?
Back at the end of the last century, in the year 1998, a couple of guys in Seattle teamed up to unite one guy’s shed, crammed full of metals, with the other guy’s interest in building websites. Wielding these two dubious assets, the team was able to put together an eCommerce website offering cut-to-size metals to the world! Thus, OnlineMetals.com was born.
Within a couple of years the demand for OnlineMetals’ service grew enough to require a move to a bona-fide warehouse facility, complete with commercial saws, shipping facilities and a fulfillment team. Within three years, we outgrew that facility and moved yet again to an even larger space near Seattle’s Ballard Bridge. Here we installed more resources, like actual industrial forklifts, and a dedicated customer service team.
Philosophy Leads to Success
From the beginning, our mantra has been, “The last thing you do is the first thing the customer sees. Make it right.” With every addition to our business we’ve made, from improving our shipping processes to growing our team, we apply this customer-obsessed focus.
Thanks to the loyalty of the creative and industrious businesses and individuals that make up our universe of customers, our business has continued to grow like mad. In 2007, a global materials company, ThyssenKrupp AG, noticed our success and acquired our little Seattle startup!
As a division of ThyssenKrupp Materials North America, we’ve been able to expand distribution locations across the United States and added a broad assortment of products to our catalog. Our new found purchasing power and network of locations means that we’re able to get product to customer’s a lot faster and for a lot less money. Which, of course, feeds our hunger for customer satisfaction.
It’s All About You
Providing high quality materials, with zero minimums, to the diverse range of customers who find our online shop is the only reason we’re here. Over the years we’ve been lucky to work with individuals from all sorts of businesses. Everyone from NASA to the eccentric neighborhood contraption builder has come to us for help. And that’s just the way we like it!
Because our customers are each as unique as every custom-cut that leaves our warehouses, we have a team of customer service professionals providing one-to-one support from coast-to-coast. We know in the digital age this type of old fashioned service isn’t really the “scalable” thing to do. But, we’re no big box store, and for us it’s the core of who we are, and one of the ways we can always try to Make it right.
In short, we’re glad you’re here and hope to help you find just the thing you’re looking for to complete whatever quirky project you’ve got going on.
If you have any feedback for us, chime in and fill-out our customer survey. If you’re good to go, we wish you happy shopping and many return visits! Thank you for visiting Online Metals.
